Our Mission
At The Egg Project, our goal is to fight malnutrition in slum children across Kathmandu, Nepal. Malnutrition is one of the leading causes of disabilities and mortality across the country. 36% of children under the age of five in Nepal have stunted growth. The typical Nepali diet consists of “dal baht,” which is rice and lentil soup, and some vegetables such as potatoes or cauliflower. The biggest nutritional issue throughout Nepal is protein energy malnutrition, with a prevalence of 43% (2015).
We are dedicated to providing a source of protein- eggs!– to the poorest of the poor, aka slum children, and drop malnutrition rates for good.
Donate
We need at the very least $500 USD of support per month in order to give all of our 160+ children in the slums we are currently able to reach an egg each day, 5 days a week. We love one-time donations, but donors who can commit to a recurring monthly donation are the most helpful. Whether it’s $30 a month or $5, it all counts and we use every cent. If everyone in this world decided to downsize from a large latte every morning to a small and take that extra change leftover at the end of each month and give it to a good cause, imagine the impact that would make…we’d change the world.

Disclaimer: unfortunately donations are not eligible for tax write-offs at this time, as we are not an official nonprofit yet. But we are working on it and we’ll be official soon!
